2011 was an outstanding season, with Brinleyview Camanchee Qualifying for HOYS, Royal International and winning the NFU open Ridden Final. Lara also qualified Max for Royal International.
Welcome to Catchpool Shetland Pony Stud. We have been established for over 40 years and breed and sell quality, outstanding-natured, ponies that excel in the show ring. We enjoy showing mountain and moorland breeds and in 2012 we want to show more of our own home-bred ponies. Therefore we have made the hard decision to reduce the amount of foals we have each year to enable us to show all our youngstock.
Catchpool Shetland Stud was started in 1960 with the purchase of the filly foal 'Teilo Fach'. In the ensuing years she produced many fillies including Madame Cholet of Catchpool (exported to Sweden) and her descendents are still with us today. Ickworth Vanquish was purchased as stud stallion and amongst others he sired the prolific show-winning gelding Victory of Catchpool and his well-known brother Vandal of Catchpool who was the smallest pony ever to qualify for Olympia in the Shetland Pony Grand National, which he did three times in all. Though small in stature Vandal was known for his character and behavioural exploits as much as his achievements. He managed to behave himself enough to attend Amsterdam International Show and when he retired he managed to win a veteran class a couple of years ago sadly we lost Vandal last year.
Congratulations to Johanna who won Vermo Show in Finland, the Biggest breed show of the year with Camomile of Catchpool. She was Champion Miniature Mare, Champion Miniature Shetland and 4th overall against 480 ponies of all breeds! Well done, a very impressive result!
